IRVINE, CA - April 25, 2005

The longest running triathlon in history (1978-2005) will take place on May 22, 2005 at the Newport Beach Back Bay, beginning at the Newport Dunes. Kring & Chung, LLP, a full-service law firm and Pacific Sports LLC, a premier sports consultation firm, are pleased to present this event that will benefit the University of California, Irvine Rowing Teams. This triathlon features a half mile swim in the Newport Back Bay, a fast 12 mile cycle course around Fashion Island, and concludes with a scenic 5K run along the upper Newport Bay.

Established in 1978 as the “Ancient Mariner & Rusty Pelican Triathlon - A Human Race,” this bike, run, then swim triathlon jump started many top triathletes' careers, as well as initiated first-time triathlon athletes to participate. The NikeWomen store in Fashion Island, will host a pre-registration expo featuring clinics and merchandise from 10a.m.-4p.m. on Saturday May 21st.
