Laura C. Hess is a partner with Kring & Chung, LLP. She joined the firm in 1998. Ms. Hess's practice focuses on trial work. Ms. Hess works in the business, real estate, and employment law departments at Kring & Chung, LLP's main office in Irvine.
Business Litigation
Ms. Hess represents manufacturers of products such as steel tinplate, textiles, plastics, vinyl, printer cartridge toner, and bottled water. Many of these are overseas manufacturers who sell their products in the United States. She also represents a wide variety of other types of businesses, ranging from large corporations to small, family owned companies. She is well-versed in claims between merchants under the Commercial Code, including nonpayment and collection issues, claims of defective and nonconforming goods, breach of warranty actions, and commercial fraud claims.
Real Estate Litigation
Ms. Hess has extensive experience handling commercial and residential real estate matters. She has handled matters involving nondisclosure allegations, boundary disputes, title disputes, commercial and residential leases, breach of fiduciary duty claims against real estate brokers and realtors, lis pendens, claims to compel releases of escrow deposits, mortgage fraud claims, and unlawful detainers.
Employment Litigation
Ms. Hess also practices employment litigation. She defends employers against employees' claims of Fair Employment and Housing Act violations, wage and hour violations, failure to pay overtime, failure to pay commissions, failure to provide meal and rest breaks, disability discrimination, retaliation, failure to engage in the interactive process, failure to accommodate, failure to provide leave under the Family Medical Leave Act, and failure to engage in the interactive process.
Education
Ms. Hess graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pepperdine University. She obtained her law degree from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Ms. Hess was a member of Law Review.
