Laura C. Hess is a senior associate with Kring & Chung, LLP. Her practice focuses on trial work. She has tried over 30 cases. Ms. Hess works in the business and real estate department at Kring & Chung, LLP's main office in Irvine. The types of cases Ms. Hess works on include, for example, representing merchants in vendor disputes/UCC claims, and representing real estate brokers in breach of fiduciary duty actions.
Ms. Hess is originally from Portland, Oregon. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She was the recipient of the Robert Byrd Congressional Scholarship and Pepperdine University's Presidential Scholarship. Ms. Hess also received an award for Outstanding Graduating Student of Pepperdine University's Humanities Division. Ms. Hess has studied abroad in Heidelberg, Germany; London, England; and Dublin, Ireland. She obtained her law degree from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Ms. Hess was a member of Law Review. She received several oral advocacy awards while she was a law student, including placing third at nationals in mock trial competition.
Ms. Hess currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Women Lawyers Association. She is a former director of Orangewood PALS. Orangewood PALS plans activities and raises money for the Orangewood Children's Home, a shelter for abused and neglected children. Ms. Hess is a member of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) Real Estate Section, the Orange County Celtic Bar Association, and Lex Romana (Orange County Italian-American Lawyers Association). She also serves on the OCBA Community Outreach Committee. Ms. Hess taught a continuing legal education course regarding opening statements at trial, through the OCBA College of Trial Advocacy. Ms. Hess also published an article in Orange County Lawyer magazine regarding trial presentation technology.
Ms. Hess volunteers her time with the Community Action Partnership of the Orange County Food Bank, conducting food drives and packaging food for delivery to families at risk of hunger. She also sponsors a Ugandan child, through World Vision, Inc., whose community has been devastated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Ms. Hess has been a member of the California Bar since 1998.
