After
graduating with honors from the University of California at
San Diego with a degree in Economics in 1992, Mr. Mougin attended
the University of San Diego School of Law. Mr. Mougin received
his Juris Doctorate degree in 1996 and continued his training
in construction defect and business litigation as an associate
with the San Diego law firm Tuverson & Hillyard.
Mr. Mougin later became a founding
partner in the San Diego law firm of Lake & Mougin, LLP
in 1997. In the summer of 1999, Mr. Mougin successfully passed
the Nevada State Bar Examination,
and in the spring of 1999 successfully passed the Arizona State
Bar Examination, thereby expanding the scope of the Lake & Mougin
practice throughout the southwestern United States.
Mr. Mougin gained considerable experience in the defense
of residential as well as commercial construction defect cases as managing partner and handling
attorney on a large number of high-exposure and complex cases
in Clark County, NV, San Diego County, Riverside County, Los Angeles County and
Orange County, California as well as
Phoenix, Arizona. He has defended and taken hundreds of depositions
as well as prepared law and motion on virtually every aspect
of complex developer and subcontractor construction litigation.
Mr. Mougin has also tried numerous complex cases in both State Superior and Federal Court. He has been involved in the mediation, arbitration, and trial of a variety of construction based cases with amounts in dispute totaling over $750 million.
Mr. Mougin joined Kring & Chung, LLP
in May 2001, opening the San Diego office along with David Weber,
also formally of Tuverson & Hillyard.
On October 1, 2004, Mr. Mougin opened the new location of Kring & Chung in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Mougin is now acting as Managing Partner of the Las Vegas office along with his senior associate, Jack Bell. Kring & Chung's Las Vegas office is experienced in dealing with the nuances of construction law in the state of Nevada, including NRS Chapter 40 as well as the handling and management of OCIP/ WRAP issues. Mr. Mougin currently
represents primarily developers, owners and general contractors as well as specialty subcontractors in both civil defense and business litigation cases. Mr. Mougin also maintains a variety of sports and entertainment clients as well as providing services to the principals of a number of prominent construction firms in both Nevada and California.
