On October 20, 2015, Managing Partner, Kyle Kring met with Christine Baker, the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations, which oversees DLSE, and her Special Counsel, on behalf of and with CalPASC members to discuss the new legislation affecting piece rate pay. Recently enacted AB 1513 will have a significant effect on employers who pay employees on a piece rate basis. We were able to obtain some guidance from the Director and her Special Counsel on some of the critical issues in the bill. Every business with a piece rate compensation plan should immediately consult with counsel to discuss the effect of AB 1513 and SB 588.
